Smiling buttons

These photos inspired me to start making another collage of a bird out of newspaper this arvo. The newspaper bird series spawned from my boredom of shredding newspaper at work and grew into a colourful and playful flock which i took home and stuck on my mirror above my fireplace. I'll take a photo when a couple more birdies are concieved!

OLA

Bought this floral dress with awesome sleeves from a vintage shop a few months ago on Crown Street and only just got around to chopping and customizing it a little. Wore it with my Docs the other night and faux snakeskin purse.

My spanish lessons start tonight i'm quite excited actually! 5 weeks to gain a "competent" understanding of the language- my time management is horrendous.

shine shine shine

Does anyone know where to buy garden gnomes?? I'm having a garden party on saturday for my birthday on sunday and thought it would be cute to put a couple of gnomes at the front gate! Mum and I are going to Paddy's markets today to buy chinese paper lanterns to hang from the trees. I'm covering my garden in candles and having candelabras and candlesticks on all of the tables and the bar.. also lining my pool with tea lights and putting floating candles in it :)
Also, how cool's this idea- my best friends mum told me:
- you collect empty tins (like the ones you buy diced tomatoes in, take off the labels and the lids and fill them to the top with water.
- then you chuck them in the freezer
- when the water has frozen you hammer a nail into the tin and make a shape (i made a heart) from all the little nail holes
- leave the tins in the sun for the water to melt
- when tins are dry and empty, light a tea light and put it in the bottom so that when it's dark, the light shines through the heart shape and looks pretty :) -- i'm going to make about 20 and scatter them about the garden or on ledges.. i'll take tonnes of photos, in the meantime i need to pray it doesn't rain
Also, i borrowed some little butterflies and flowers from my friend which i'm going to stick on my garden shed covered in ivy.
Mmmm i think i want to be a professional party planner now it's so addictive :)

steaming crimson skies

selection of fun photos taken by none other than seraina from cheapchampagne one night at mosman. Musical accompaniment: 'Talahina Sky' by Kings of Leon.. matches the summery carelessness- i think we had just finished school :)
i'm wearing a crocheted/beaded dress from markets (my obsession with all things crocheted began here), GAP champagney grey ribbed shoestring singlet, leather slouchy boots, small leather shoulder bag with extra long strap, Joy bracelets.

kebbe tahini night

i met Emerald at this little lebanese joint in Surry Hills last night for dinner - it was beautiful, i love being surprised by small and shabby middle eastern restaurants.

then we went to mosman and caught up with a few people, it was funny.

i wore tsubi circa 2005 clock leggings, banana republic linen shirt, events cream linen bomber, vintage fringed cowboy boots from retrostar Melbourne, shag tan suede shoulder bag.

spag bal + red wine

took my twelve year old cousin from london to Glebe markets the other weekend. she has the most amazing voice i made her sing the whole car trip home!

leggings were my mums when she was my age i found them under the house in storage a little while back. i made the bracelet on my right hand from loads of buttons of all varieties i sewed onto a long thin piece of floral cotton, i started with white buttons and sequins and progressed through the colour spectrum to pale pink

Ranch weekend

the farm was amazing, the Yarralong is such a beautiful place. we made a little bonfire when we got there and had hung out around it all night drinking and eating steak & sausages and toasting marshmallows and drinking tea with condensed milk.
