Thou shalt not worship false idols

Off on a double date road trip to the Hunter Valley this weekend, i baked anzac cookies and banana and date loaf. It's the most beautiful day, i'm going to pick up a disposable camera on the way weeeeeee
Happy anzac day everyone

P.S. check out this hologram picture of Mary AND Jesus i bought yesterday. I thought the two in one thing was kind of cool!

Also, download 'Piano' by 'Hot Chip', syncing my ipod with hot chip i stole from a boy at work for the trip.

Cookies mix

Stumbled across this little vintage furniture/junk shop in Bondi last week and found this awesome tasseled woolen poncho.
When i get round to it i've got to get my mum to teach me how to crochet capes and clothes and things i think it's so funky. She's knitting golf head covers at the moment for her golf clubs in really cool contrasting colours, i'll post some piccys when she's done

From the recycled clothes store across the road i found this thin jersey spotted dress.. reminds me of Tsumori Chisato a bit.

Packing lists

I've had this furry leopard print satchel style bag that used to belong to my mum hanging on my hat-stand for ages so i did a little diy the other night and pressed little silver studs i bought years ago from an op shop throughout the leopard pattern

Bueller, Bueller, Bueller?

Best movie

Had a nice walk home this evening, made me think of all the wacky interesting ideas there are out there that never leave people's minds. There should be public white boards on telegraph poles for people to write them on as they walk past.

Love forever

Yayoi Kusama, below, is 80 y.o. and lives in a mental asylum around the corner from her art studio in Japan. She spends her days there and comes home for food and to sleep. Couple of fun facts for you

She's currently exhibiting at the MCA- her last one room installation my mum took me to a few years ago was brilliant so i'm going to try get there this weekend.

Master

May as well seeing as i'm on a TR tangent now.

Raw voyeur

Few of my fav Terry Richardson editorials... god i'd love to meet him! I'd also love a few rolls of the fabric Daria's wearing!

They say

... you can't go wrong with a life-size plastic Bok Choi pendant on a long silver chain for 10 bucks.

Cutest thing i've stumbled across in a while, plus it has comedic value

From GLEBE markets April 09.

Art brut

"following visions of “beautiful mansions with big domes” that “made a negative in [his] brain,” he added several floors and a steeple of wood and sheet metal and bits of tin and broken glass and remade the building into not so much a work of art as a monument to his waking dreams, an assortment of refuse and warped planking transformed into something of obsessive detail and intricacy" -- Excerpted from The Colorful Apocalypse by Greg Bottoms.

Browsing through outsider art (art created outside the boundaries of official culture) is one of the most fascinating things. These artists work in isolation from the commerical artworld, deriving inspiration purely from their pyschological landscapes rather than from what's happening around them.
MIKEY WELSH - one of my favourite.

Top to bottom: Welsh in his studio; studio; mural commissioned by Maven Store, Vermont.

White winter

Feeling winters going to be whiter this time around with textured layers, white lace and white sheer tights yum.
.. Hence my decision to buy the white leather version of these Nicola Finetti heels over the black suede- bar my poor toe nail job they're pretty freaking awesome aren't they.

+ a White Panel Bodycon TOPSHOP mini (to order this week) + my H&M sparkly black opaque tights and i will be well on my way.

In the meantime i need to find something for tonight- heading to Mumma's 50th, she's hired out a room in an Italian down the road & then to the city for my best pal Emmy's 18th... thinking Scanlan & Theodore silk ruffled blouse, nude slip, new shoes :), gold cross dangly earrings ($6 from Glebe last week) and turquoise nails- meant to be there in 30 so i better run

Have a fantastic saturday night!

Escape to an off-world colony

Don't you love how the fluorescent writing lights up that lace

Few random snaps I pulled out of the gazillion taken during during my recent visit to New York and San Fran - i'm going to pick a handful to print onto small canvases and align in two rows above my bed, inspiration courtesy of the one and only Selby.

The first of many posts tonight - lots of long lost time i need to make up for,

So full of possibility I love this thing.
